TUESDAY’S TREASURE

I didn’t realize how far I had drifted until my heart began to feel restless. Life had kept me busy—a full schedule, full mind, and full hands—but something within me longed for stillness.

In the middle of all the doing,

I sensed the quiet absence of simply being with the Lord.

Yikes.

I remember one evening when everything finally slowed. My two-year-old was at grandma’s house, my husband was at work, the house was quiet, and the distractions faded into the background. In that moment, there was a gentle stirring in my spirit—a reminder that I had not lost my way entirely, but I had wandered from that place of closeness with God.

It wasn’t condemnation I felt, but invitation. God is so gentle.

Scripture reminds us of this beautiful truth in Luke 15:20 (KJV): “But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” The story of the prodigal son isn’t just about leaving—it’s about the heart of the Father who watches, waits, and welcomes us home with open arms.

We often believe coming back to God requires something grand. We think we must have the right words, the right posture, or a perfected heart before we return. But the gospel shows us something entirely different. Coming home begins with a single step—a turning of our hearts toward the Lord.

Even in our weakness, even in our unfinished state, He meets us with grace.

Sometimes we carry silent burdens of guilt, convincing ourselves we’ve gone too far or stayed away too long. Yet the truth of Scripture gently corrects us. God’s love is not fragile. His mercy is not limited. His arms are not folded in disappointment but extended in welcome.

In the quiet moments when we pause and turn back, we rediscover what has always been true: we belong to Him. Not because we have earned it, but because He has claimed us as His own. Our relationship with God is not built on our perfection, but on His faithfulness.

That is our treasure today: the assurance that no matter how far we wander, our Heavenly Father is always ready to receive us with love, grace, and open arms.
