THE IMPORTANCE OF HEARING GOD'S VOICE

Anyone in the Lord can learn to hear Him. You need to desire time to listen to Him. There are many decisions that we have made without consulting the Lord. He has a plan and knows the outcome of every decision that we make without His guidance.

We have a choice to follow His guidance and His plan to get the best results. Before you can hear His voice, you must first have a relationship with the Lord.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: “ John 10:27 (KJV)

This is important, and it keeps you grounded in your faith. You need to know God’s character to recognize His voice. The same applies to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They all function differently in their interaction.

There are different ways that they can speak to us. They can speak audibly, in a still, small voice, through visions, dreams, trances, His word, thoughts, people, and situations. His Holy Spirit and angels will speak to us, but we must be in the Lord to discern, or we can become deceived by the devil. The shepherd knows His sheep and speaks to them. Jesus will make himself known to those who seek him.

Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice. He speaks all the time, but we don’t always hear him.

“In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;”

Job 33:15 (KJV).

The Lord will use dreams to speak to us in the night while we sleep. We can ask the Lord to give us the interpretation of the dream and then we must pray over it. If there is an evil plan against you through the dream, you must cancel it and replace it with God’s plan. It can affect your life.

Sometimes we may need to apply what He tells us. We need faith in Him. We get faith when we hear His word.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17 (KJV).

We need faith to believe that He speaks to us and to receive from Him what He said. Faith is required to act out what He tells us.

More time with the Lord builds your ability to hear accurately. It is essential for ministry. He will reveal mysteries to you and help develop other gifts of the Holy Spirit.
