Have you ever thought about the power of speaking God’s Word aloud? Scripture declares, “Let the one who has my word speak it faithfully” Jeremiah 23:28 (NIV), and “You will declare a thing, and it will be established for you” Job 22:28 (NKJV). Spoken, God’s Word unleashes His purposes in your life.

What if you reworded your favorite verses to speak straight to Him—say “You are_____” instead of “He is_____”? Let’s make them present tense too—“You are doing_______” rather than “You will do_______”.

Take Psalm 46:1 (NIV): “God is … an ever-present help in trouble.” Boldly say, “Father God, You are my present help in this trouble now.” Isn’t that more relational?

Now Romans 8:26–28 (NIV): “The Spirit helps us in our weakness … intercedes for us through wordless groans … according to God’s will … and His purpose.” Tell Him, “Holy Spirit, You are my help in my weakness. With wordless groans, You are interceding on my behalf according to God’s will and purpose.” As you say this, experience that partnership with the Holy Spirit aligning you to the Father’s will.

Or Hebrews 10:17–22 paraphrased: “Jesus, You have opened a new, living way through Your body. Now I enter the Most Holy Place by Your blood, sins forgiven—no more sacrifices needed.”

Now let’s put it all together.

Speaking God’s Word aligns your voice with His will, setting His plans in motion in your life.

Use first person—begin with “You are” helping you focus on Him opening the door to a conversation.

Keep it present tense, stating what He’s doing in, for, or through you now—not future tense.

You’re talking to the Trinity about His work in you, so expect a reply—His thoughts toward you outnumber the grains of sand. Psalm 139:17–18 (NIV).

Grab a pen, and ask, “What are You declaring over me today?” Or “What are Your thoughts toward me right now?” Listen without doubting, write His first words, ask Him to elaborate, and let the conversation flow.

MY REVIEW ***** Cavier for the Soul

I was given a copy of The Declarations: Ushering You into the Presence of God for my honest review. This devotional work is different than most. The author delves into the nature and Divine traits of the Holy Trinity through carefully selected Scripture that heightens the personal relationship the believer has with the Sovereign God. The last few chapters go deeper into the exploration of the concepts presented. The author provides helpful hints to the reader to obtain the most from her heartfelt work.

My recommendation is to treasure the book as a daily infusing and reminder of our Personal God. Taking a few verses at a time, apply the author’s instruction to obtain the maximum import of how truly magnificent our God is. I know that is what I will do.

I recommend this book.
