TUESDAY’S TREASURE

The gentle rhythm of the sea can be a great comfort. It doesn’t matter whether the water is so calm that it looks like glass, or the storm is raging all around – solace can be found everywhere—the storms toss up treasures on an ocean beach unlike anywhere else.

One treasure is the pieces of sea glass that were pounded and beaten and then ended up on the beach. They are usually small. Sole survivors of a harrowing journey. With varying degrees of smooth edges, the ones with the smoothest edges having been in the water the longest. Sometimes they’re clear, sometimes green or brown. Each one is unique because all have gone through different circumstances.

When we’re beaten by the world, broken by circumstances into small pieces—maybe not worth a second glance in the eyes of some—our second-chance God says different.

He treats us like a treasure.

Precious.

The tough times—like the sand—aren’t meant to destroy us. The battles—like the waves—smooth off the rough edges and polish. It may not be comfortable, but it is necessary.
