We are created to fellowship and have a close relationship with the Lord. The angels in heaven are commanded to worship the Lord. They cry out "Holy, Holy, Holy!" Did you know that Lucifer was made as the leader of worship for God? Before he became Satan, he was beautifully adorned. But because of pride, he lost everything.

The Lord created us to worship Him.

Worship brings the presence of God into our environment. Every day we should worship Him … not only in song but in what we do. This includes our devotional time of reading the Bible, prayer, thanking the Lord for what He has done, thank Him for what we asked for in prayer, and waiting in His presence.

David sought the Lord daily. He composed many of the psalms we read in the book of Psalms. God can give you psalms, songs, and poems based on the scriptures. I wrote a collection of them and published it as a book, and I continue to produce more.

He will give you the words to write from your heart.

By His spirit, the creative gift will flow from us. The more we yield to the Lord the easier it will flow. We will enjoy being in His presence. Moses also spent many hours in God's presence. Then he went out to command the Israelites to do what God said. We worship God through obedience to His Word. Jesus will give you instructions every day to obey. 

Jesus told the Samaritan woman: 

 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 (KJV) 

We must worship God with our whole heart, soul, strength, and mind. We should worship Him with our bodies too. Worship can also be expressed through dance. Miriam danced before the Lord with the tambourine and sang a song to the Lord when they passed through the Red Sea. Worship can be expressed through various forms of creative arts such as drama, writing, arts, design, and photography.

 Proverbs 31 gives us a model of a woman who worshipped God through everything she did. She had success in everything that she did because she worshipped God. Worship loving God through actions. Mary poured her heart out to Jesus. She washed Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume and she wiped it with her hair. She listened to Jesus when he taught the disciples. Jesus wants us to honour Him first.

A fervent prayer is an act of worship. To meditate on the Word of God and to confess it daily is also worship. Our lives must be fully immersed in the Lord. He said to meditate on His word day and night. To think and talk to the Lord both day and night is worship. Let every decision you make honour the Lord by asking Him first. Make the Lord your priority every day. Remember the Lord doesn’t want us to have any idols in our lives. He said to worship only Him for the Lord is a jealous God.
