THE STORY BEHIND LETHAL CONNECTIONS

About four years ago, I had an idea for a romantic suspense story after seeing a news report about a federal agent who was killed in the line of duty. He was young and I wanted to give him his own happily ever after. I pitched the story to my small publisher, they asked for a full manuscript, and they loved it! My editor at Anaiah Press gave me the encouragement I needed. She told me “I think romantic suspense is your genre.” I mean, wow! I never expected to hear that. I thought that the book would be only one in that genre, and I would go back to writing contemporary romance. They asked if I could write a three-book series. As a result, Targeted for Elimination became Lethal Intentions, Book One of the Targeted for Elimination Series. It is amazing how the Lord can divert us ever so gently when we’re not expecting it.

After finishing books one and two of the Targeted for Elimination series, I was so sure I was going to draft a different book to fulfill my contract. All three books either start in Hawaii or end in Hawaii. I conducted a lot of research concerning the Big Island, but for some reason, I couldn’t make this third story “fit” in with the other two. As I sat down to write, I would stare at the blinking cursor on my laptop. I mean, I knew who my characters were, their dark moment stories, personalities, but something just felt “off.” I couldn’t explain it.

I sat there and prayed, “Lord, I need your help with this story. Give me the words.” Nothing. His silence was the answer I was not looking for. I wanted to force that story, but having to force a story to develop only results in a poorly written one. That original story would have to wait. So, I put it aside and it was as if a lightbulb went off in my head. One of the characters raised his hand and said, “Me, I have a story to tell.” And that’s how Travis Beckett, a surfer with a mysterious past who shows up in books one and two, got his story. As I dug into his and Kaitlyn’s story, the words began to flow, and the story unfolded in front of me. This was not me, but the Lord. I pray that Travis and Kaitlyn’s faith journey will be a blessing to you as you read this story.

Now, a more sinister danger lurks behind every shadow, and if she and Travis can’t work together to find out who is behind the violent attacks, and why, they can both say goodbye to their second chance.

MY REVIEW ***** for fast-paced action, a page-turner

Danger lurks everywhere from a medical conference in Hawaii to the southern states. No peace for the wicked nor is there any for our courageous hero and heroine. The author skillfully takes us on a non-stop adventure as the couple, where the man was supposed to be dead, is chased, shot at, and experiences other excitement. In the process, faith is challenged and renewed. I recommend this book. Oh, and of course there’s a cat!
