THREE FRENCH HENS

"Three French Hens is the perfect introduction to this author for new readers and a wonderful addition for existing fans. It has all the elements Linore's readers love: characters that jump off the page, authentic period research, costume drama and, of course, romance. Not to be missed."
Teresa Slack, Author of Streams of Mercy

Young Mademoiselle Christine D'Ornay and her family have fled from France to England, seeking safety from the Revolution and “Madame La Guillotine." At her first Assembly ball as it nears Christmas, Christine meets the dashing and elegant Lord Russell. But the lives of French aristocrats are cheap in an age of betrayal, and Jacobites are on the prowl. Can Christine and her family trust this new friend, or is Lord Russell the enemy they fear most?

Dangerous secrets must be guarded, but hope is found when love enters the scene.

Linore says, "I've been fascinated (and horrified) by the French Revolution ever since reading a biography of Marie Antoinette as a child. I must have been all of nine and cried my eyes out for her. This short story was a long time coming, therefore, but I hope to revisit the period with a longer work of fiction. This story isn't about the revolution, of course, being a short romance, but takes place during what many consider the worst years of it: Robespierre's 'Reign of Terror' before Napoleon came into power. My usual historical era is the English Regency, and to put this in context for those not familiar, the Revolution preceded the Regency by some twenty-odd years.

Both periods are fascinating, and I love how the French and English intersect in both political, social, and fashion concerns. If revolutions and wars aren't your things, no worries. Three French Hens is set in England,"far from the madding crowd" of clamorous uprisings in France."
