Becomes Our Best Future"
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:4-9 NIV).
Anxiety has become pandemic, and the world exhausts itself in search of a cure. Massage parlors, exercise routines, comfort foods, vacations, and sundry remedies are offered at high cost. Yet, in the above verses, Paul has given us the solution to defeat worry, fear, and frustration.
REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS
In essence, Paul is saying he can’t emphasize enough how important it is for the believer to maintain a grateful spirit. He encourages us with this thought: whenever we are assaulted by circumstances, go to the Lord. Rejoice in the simple fact our God is never far away.
DON’T LET ANXIETY RULE
Instead, the believer is able to conquer anxiety through prayer and thanksgiving. When times are tough, God tells the believer, “Lay it on me, Child. There is nothing too big for me to handle.”
THOUGHT CONTROL
Of course, negativity will try to wage war with our positive energy. But as Romans 8: 37 reminds us, “We are more than conquerors through him who loves us.” We can ask him to turn our destructive fears into good thoughts as we train our minds to think on the noble, the right, the pure, the lovely, the admirable, and the praiseworthy.
A steady diet of the darker side of life will lead us to destruction. Like Eve’s serpent, these forces walk through the battlefields of our hearts ready to strike a blow when we are the most vulnerable. But God offers peace that passes all human understanding. When we remember, God has already fought these battles for us and won, we can then claim victory and go forward.
