Hubs and I recently spent a week in North Myrtle Beach. We don’t take vacations very often. Most of our get-away trips are one or two days. But when our sun offered us the use of his time-share benefits, we accepted.

Since we wanted to see my brother, who lives in Florida, we decided to spend a week in North Myrtle Beach, SC, as we made our way back from Florida to Maryland.

The vacation was just what the doctor ordered.

We did a lot of fun things, but we were careful to spread our fun out to include recuperation time. We went to the Ripley Aquarium and took in a couple of dinner theater shows. What fun!

So for this HTPOML article, I researched some vacationing benefits and traveling tips.

Mentally, vacations reduce stress and boost mood. New experiences stimulate the brain, lowering the risk of cognitive decline. Activities like visiting museums or cultural events enrich the mind and support healthy aging. The excitement of travel can also help combat depression and anxiety.

Travel brings purpose— learning, or exploring, seniors gain fulfillment and renewed zest for life.

Medication Travel Tips:

Pack extra medication for your trip and delays.
Keep medications in original containers with prescriptions and a doctor’s letter.
Always carry medications in your carry-on.
Use an insulated bag for medications needing refrigeration.
Declare medically necessary liquids at security and check destination laws for restrictions.
Plan for time zone changes and keep emergency contacts handy.
