Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble.
Psalm 119:165
Not a guarantee of a carefree life; rather, an assurance that God will keep us from sin if we remain in Him.
The Hebrew word interpreted as stumble may mean waver or move.*
There is stability for the believer when we mediate and live out God’s word. God’s precepts are not hard. Jesus summarized the law, the over 600 “rules” in the Talmud, with these two commandments that also summarized the ten commandments in Exodus:
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:324-38 NIV
We cannot veer far from God’s guidance when we truly love Him with all our being. Nor can we veer from the command to love others because God is Love. No ills, no disappointment, no seeming failure can deter the one who is resting in God who ever abides.

The old standard comes to me often when struggles come. I am comforted because I know God abides.
