PLEASE WELCOME

FRANK BALL

TO

HAVING THE PRIME OF MY LIFE

We live in a world with endless pleasures and flings

With pictures and music where temptation sings.

Thoughts tap into our minds and tug at our sight.

They sneak into our emotions, day and night.

If we say, “I wish I had never had that thought.”

That’s too late. The battle is already being fought.

You can’t say, “Don’t think it,” once thinking’s begun.

That train’s left the station. The moment’s already done.

TV and movie screens offer enticements sublime,

So dodge what you can. Be careful with your time.

But when you can’t dodge, don’t sit there and stew.

Wash the dust and dirt with what’s holy and true.

You can’t unthink, once a thought’s parked in your head,

But you can embrace a much better thought, instead.

A right thought moves in and the wrong moves along,

Like light chasing shadows so they don’t last very long.

So fill up your thinking with thoughts that are right,

With kind and true ones that shine with God’s light.

Good thoughts take space the bad ones would claim.

They crowd out the noise, and they quiet the shame.

Remember, dear writer, each choice has a feel.

Emotion joins logic, both shaping what’s real.

Walk in the Spirit. Remain steady. Stand fast.

And fleshly-driven urges won’t trip you at last.

Guard what you see and be washed when you must.

Plant good, holy thoughts by the Author you trust.

Your words will ring clearer. Your pages will sing

As you walk with God in each small, daily thing.

Frank Ball, Roaring Writer

ABOUT FRANK BALL

After thirty years of computer programming and business administration, Frank abandoned the technology he loved most to pursue what he hated most: writing and teaching. Why? Several vivid dreams led him to believe God wanted his life to go in a different direction. Therefore, in the last thirty years, writing and teaching have been among his greatest treasures in life.

He learned that if people want to experience God and fulfill The Great Commission, they need to tell their life-changing stories. Well-crafted stories deliver an experience of truth that the audience can’t reject.

For ten years, he directed North Texas Christian Writers to help members improve their writing and storytelling skills. In 2018, he joined the Roaring Lambs ministry to encourage and equip all Christians to tell their life-changing stories. He has taught at writing conferences and churches across the U.S. and Canada. Besides writing his own books, he does ghostwriting, editing, and graphic design to help others publish high-quality books.

A widower since 2003, he has three married sons, seven grandchildren, and lives in a Fort Worth, Texas, suburb
