There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1 – 2).
No condemnation except that which I pass onto myself. The human remembrance of our sin reaches far deeper than God’s. He forgets them, erases them from His existence. Yet we hover over them as if they were trophies.
The same truth holds regarding our mistakes and failures. If we have confessed them and handed them over to God, they are no longer ours.
So why do we take them back on our shoulders?
Let us throw off any hindrance to the good work God wants us to do. Let us throw off our fears and doubts, our frustrations and feelings of futility. They have no place within the task God has given us to do
Shame, guilt, and fear once held power over us, but the Spirit now leads us into real freedom. God does not remind us of our failures—He reminds us of our identity in Christ. Freedom isn’t something we earn; it’s something we receive and walk in, one step at a time.
Here are some practical things we can do when Satan butts into our minds with remembrance of past sin:
Speak Scripture over self-condemning thoughts.
Bring failures to God quickly and honestly.
Ask the Holy Spirit each day to guide your steps.
Surround yourself with voices that point to grace.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the freedom I have in Christ. When condemnation tries to rise, remind me that You have already forgiven and freed me. Fill me with Your Spirit today and help me walk in the truth of who I am in You. Let Your grace speak louder than my fear. Amen.
