MY FAVORITE BIBLE VERSES

special edition

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

God’s Word and experience teach us we live in a world that groans under the curse of sin (Genesis 3:16-19). Just because we love God and follow Christ, everything that happens to us will not be pleasant and without difficulty. Pain and suffering, selfishness, prejudice, violence, natural disasters, and losses of many kinds are common to the human experience, and they are things we do not usually consider to be good.

God is good (Psalm 25:8); goodness is one of His attributes (Psalm 31:19). In the beginning, God created all things good (Genesis 1). Then why is life not always good?

For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways

And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8,9 NKJV)

God, who is good and loves us, will use difficulties or trials in our lives to strengthen us in our faith, to direct us in our lives, and to prepare us to do His work for His glory.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience [perseverance, endurance]. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:2-4 NKJV)

God alone sees the whole picture, and He’s in charge. We must learn to trust Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6 NKJV)

He directs us according to His plans and for His purposes.

ABOUT MELODY OF LIFE

In Melody of Life, Mark Chambers is a believer and a church lay leader, a man of integrity, who is hit with a job loss on top of the deaths of his family. He asks God why? Alana Somers, an international aid worker, is unexpectedly sent home to recover from malaria, which has left her physically weak and susceptible to illness. She doesn’t understand why God has removed her from her work with needy, suffering people. Gradually, God reveals the bigger picture of His plans for Mark’s and Alana’s future as they seek His direction in their lives.

***** MY REVIEW

If you like warm, sweet romances, you will enjoy reading Melody of Life. As the title suggests, circumstances often bring us to places we had not anticipated or dared not to hope for. Mark has known much tragedy; orphaned at a young age, and the death of his wife and child. Finding purpose and a plan after so much loss was hard. Will God prove faithful once again? What about Alana? Beautiful Alana. Did he dare hope for a future with her? Did God intend for him to find love again? Alana faced a severe physical challenge, leaving her non-profit work in Africa. She’d had a crush on Mark in school, but that was a long time ago. What now? Did you dare love Mark when she would have to return to Africa for a few more months to finish her contract? Would he wait for her when she wasn’t sure she would renew her contract or do something else? Did that something else mesh with God’s call for Mark? Well written with real-life characters.
