Hemophily is defined as the tendency to prefer people like us. Are Christians viewed in this way?*

Paul, Saul of Tarsus, was a Jew’s Jew. He studied under the most renowned scholars of his day. He loved the law, and before his conversion, was zealous toward the preservation of the law. The statement above is a huge turnaround for the man who persecuted Christians.

Now, his mission was to spread the news of the gospel to the Gentiles.

Paul acknowledges that God’s children are not those of a particular race. We are all Abraham’s children if we believe in the promises of God. Abraham believed and this belief made him righteous, not the physical act of circumcision. Hebrews 11:8-12

Once we are saved, we may begin to isolate ourselves within a like denomination, social circles, or cultural familiarity. In essence, this is the same as believing salvation was only for the Jews. How can we “go into all the world” as Christ commissioned (Matthew 28:16-20) if we remain within our comfortable boundaries?

“When we only prefer ‘our kind’ of people, society can fracture along racial, political, and economic lines.” *

The good news is for everyone. How, then, can we share the truth if we do not spend time outside our comfort zones?
