Snark & Sensibility

JUSTICE FOR ELIZABETH

MEET AUTHOR MARY VEE AS SHE TALKS ABOUT HER NEW RELEASE

JUSTICE FOR ELIZABETH

Hey, all! Naturally, I’m waving from inside my house. Wave back! Ahh—There you are. There is a dusting of snow on the ground and more tiny flakes falling outside my window. Yep. I’m from the north.

Thanks to Linda, we can meet today. I’m so thankful to her. I have a hot cup of tea ready. Does anyone have some tasty pastry? I smell the cinnamon.

Today we are talking mystery. Love a good mystery, don’t you? The handsome private detective, the snarky, irreplaceable secretary who keeps the office running, the distressed client whose husband has been falsely accused of embezzlement, and her lovely assistant who has woken the heart of the detective. With this cast of characters, you know this is going to be a great read!

The story is called: Justice for Elizabeth and is a standalone mystery, although, this is the second in what will be at least five Detective Carhill mysteries. The first is called Sylvia’s Secret.

The setting is posh. Mansions. Fine dining. Well, here,

I’ll let Detective Carhill tell you why he loves his wealthy clientele:

These were his favorite clients. The rich. The witty. The arrogant. A champion force in the art of verbal sparring. Characteristics he could only deign to have should some unknown rich uncle die and leave him a surprise inheritance. The problem was, both his parents were only children.

Despite the lack of a sizable bankroll and social status, he had two advantages that drew in wealthy clients. They needed his detective skills and his unbreakable promise to solve their case speedily without informing the media in any format.

The client is Elizabeth Alexander. Phillip. Her husband, an accountant at the best firm in New York, has been accused of embezzlement. All the evidence points to his guilt, but Elizabeth knows he is innocent.

This is only a piece of the problem because, as we all know, the wealthy have obligations and names to protect. Like a stain on cloth, one misstep could set the gossipers on their way to destruction.

Elizabeth asked me to let her explain the plight:

“My dear Mr. Carhill, the best lawyer money can buy claims he has tried and can’t find this person. I need someone who thinks outside the guidelines and rules. Someone who isn’t trained in criminal cases. Someone who would search for this villain like a missing person.” She took a deep breath then slowly released the air. She turned and watched the ships again. “Calendar events for spring weddings and summer fundraisers have begun. Duty calls me to attend even when issues get in the way. Phillip and I planned a late-summer trip to Paris.”

The point was clear. “None of which you can attend without him.”

The nod was barely noticeable. She cleared her throat. “The gossipers will have their way. They’ve already begun. The wealthy are always presumed guilty until proven innocent.

Our hearts go out to Elizabeth. Not only is she suffering with her husband in prison and the possibility he will be found guilty, but also the stain on her family name, which she must, at all costs protect.

Elizabeth is one of five close friends who met in French class in high school. They’ve maintained their friendship through the ups and downs of life. When they gather they speak only French. Don’t worry, there is always a translator for French portions. Detective Carhill solved Sylvia’s case in book one.

Ready to hop in?

This story is hot off the presses. The release date is April 28th. You can preorder the book right now. And if you’d like, the first in the series, Sylvia’s Secret is already available.

Here is my page on Amazon where you can find Sylvia’s Secret and Justice for Elizabeth. https://amzn.to/2JvXhub

I'm so glad to visit and chat with you. Is the silence at your house breaking your ears? Are family members just a little too silly? Hop in here today. Let's have a great time around the table and chat. I'll answer the question first, my favorite genre....you guessed, mystery. I have my hot tea.
